TV Ad for Dove

"Dove Reverse Selfie"

This is a 60 second ad entitled “Dove Reverse Selfie.” This ad promotes Dove’s products while illustrating how young teen girls are manipulated by social media demands “hurting their self-esteem and confidence.” Dove “reverses” the selfie from makeup and retouching apps to show the actual face of the girl before all the glamorizing (she is quite pretty without all the glitz). This ad has a deeper social message han just “Buy our soap.” The message encourages parents to “Have the selfie talk with a girl you love to reverse the damage and celebrate real beauty. The Dove Self-Esteem Project can show you how.”

This ad uses no voice over narration but relies on clever images and a soundtrack. It is a great example of using heart-gripping emotion to address a very serious topic.
